Varies The "True Story" Nature In Another Story Of An Horrific Nature, Filled With Scenes Of Extreme Gore To Boot, But This Time, Mr Mick Taylor, Is Channelling A Grandiose Mad-Man Alter-Ego...To The Point Where All Semblance In Reality Is Lost; Hyperbole Ensues..& Thus Also, The Whole "True Story" Tag This Thing Attempts Rides On Now Completely Loses Creditably In It's Over The To Nature. Up Sh*I Creek More Like It. Laughed Out Loud, Shook My Head & Hope, From Here, A Third Installment Is Not Planned. This Idea Of Xenophobic Clap-Trap Is Well & Truly Done & Belongs In The Bin.
A movie is only as good as the villain, and in Wolf Creek 2, a premise that builds off the horrors of the Australian outback and what lies beneath, has just that; the perfect villain. Building off the star of the first film, John Jarratt hones in on the Mick Taylor character, creating a grumbling laugh that is horrifying to hear, dooming each scene to suspenseful dread. Mick Taylor is the Australian Freddy Krueger, or Michael Myers. Surprisingly, this sequel eliminated some of the faults of the original, and built off the strengths, creating an improved experience. Greg McLean has proven that some directors can in fact, learn from their mistakes. It is not a perfect movie, far from it, but it holds its worth.
Despite being a sequel which follows the rules of horror sequels i.e. a bigger body count, more gore. This felt like a cut above what you'd usually get from sequels of this genre. It's been almost 10 years since Wolf Creek was releases and yet the main character, "Mick" is just as terrifying and it's probably down the fact that he's firmly grounded in reality unlike the Freddie's and Jason's of this world.Like most horrors you have the usual teenage characters who are bumped off one-by-one but you do at least hope that one of them gets away.Even though this went straight to DVD I would be intrigued to see a Wolf Creek 3 although I don't there's enough mileage beyond that.
