"Are the local meth dealers of yer small bayou town ruinin' yer mojo cause they happen to be yer family too? Is that what's troublin' you Bunkie? Then larn yerself sum chess and wack the bejesus out of 'em!" Or somesuch seems to be the inference of this tiring exercise of unbelievable make believe. Let me just say that Sean Bean's in it, and you know what happens to Sean Bean in every movie he's in, don't you? Spoiler alert. Lots and lots of shots of Abigail Breslin riding a bicycle, too, maybe the apogee of yer cinematic year.

Not the best movie I have seen lately, but far from the worst. The group of actors at the core of this more are all solid, and that makes up for the chess segues that annoyed me for some reason. I would really like to see James Purefoy show up on Sons of Anarchy, I liked him as a biker in this. Sean Bean, great as always. Jake Busey, also the perfect psycho. Breslin is shaping into a fine actress. And Alexa Vega has come a long way, since the Spy Kids franchis.

This movie was decently shot, but the script lacked common sense in characters and therefore less believable. The story build up was basically this happened, then that happened, then something else happened, but nothing glued together well for a movie that could be something unique. The characters were very one sided and not interesting at all. There were some very good shots made, but other than that, poorly done. The actors were all veterans who know how to deliver, only if the characters themselves were interesting. Even Jake Busey did a fine job for his very dull character. I wouldn't even rent this unless it's on Netflix. I feel bad for the actors in this movie because they really did well for a movie that can't deliver. I have a feeling the writer doesn't know much about (or researched much on) drug culture nor little girl's mentality nor people that actually do crime. I think that might be the root of the problem.
