To the children and staff at the orphanage, Auntie Roo is a kindly American widow who gives them a lavish Christmas party each year in her mansion, Forrest Grange. In reality, she is a severely disturbed woman, who keeps the mummified remains of her little daughter in a nursery in the attic. One Christmas, her eye falls upon a little girl who reminds her of her daughter and she imprisons her in her attic. Nobody believes her brother, Christopher, when he tells them what has happened, so he goes to rescue her.

Risen is a powerful biblical film that takes a unique look at the Resurrection story. After putting down the latest Jewish rebellion, Roman Tribune Clavius is charged with overseeing the crucifixion of the self-proclaimed Messiah Yeshua; but things take an unexpected turn when Yeshua's body disappears from his tomb, forcing Clavius to lead an intensive search to find it in order to prevent his follows from proclaiming a miracle and inciting another rebellion that would bring down the wrath of Caesar. Starring Joseph Fiennes, Tom Felton, Peter Firth, and Cliff Curtis, the film has a strong cast that delivers some impressive performances. And, the production values are especially good; particularly the score, which is quite evocative and full of sweeping themes. Inspirational and compelling, Risen is a visionary film with a fresh new perspective on the death and resurrection of Christ.

Decent film,Saw one comment about doesn't everyone know the story well sadly not these days kids don't seem to know it these days unless there in church,They did a survey for instance where most schools kids seemed to beleive that hitler for instance was not a real person!!quiet shocking really,Most kids probable know more about Islam these days than Christianity sad :(Also as we get into end times there will be more deception and there will be less freedoms on us as Christians so it's ever more important that people are able to see the story so they have choice to either look into it further or to turn away.

This was such an excellent movie. The acting, script, production values, and story were top-notch. I'm quite familiar with Roman history and culture from my own classical studies, as well as with the various accounts of the crucifixion and the events surrounding it, and this was an amazingly accurate production, both historically and biblically. The socio-political climate in which the events occur are portrayed vividly and effectively, the main characters are well fleshed-out, and the cognitive dissonance of the Roman tribune tasked with finding the missing body is palpable as he is faced with revelations that threaten to completely destroy his worldview, thanks largely to a stellar performance by Joseph Fiennes. This movie is challenging, captivating, and highly recommended!
