Here's the thing. On the surface this is the kind of movie I hate. Cartoonish characters, cartoonish and unrealistic action, and laughable plot and dialogue. But what TORQUE does (brilliantly I think) is it takes all those elements of badness and dials them up to 11, turning it into some kind of self parody of the mindless action flick genre. I found this flick hilarious and loved the unbelievability of it all.I hated the first two FAST AND FURIOUS movies, dislike most of Michael Bay's flicks (exceptions to THE ROCK, the first TRANSFORMERS, and maybe THE ISLAND), but TORQUE I think is something special. Friday, May 11, 2012 (2004) Torque ACTION Bike racer Terry Ford (Martin Henderson) comes home from Thailand only to be framed for a murder he didn't commit in exchanged for his innocence if he returns the other persons meth, hidden in some bikes. Ice Cube also stars as Trey the head of the biker gang called "The Reapers" seeking for retribution for his brothers death. With a reasonable amount of CGI coinciding with the actions of some preposterous characters, immature dialogue similar to improvisation and some over-the-top bike chasing, this film reminds me like what Blaxploitation/ Asian Trash cinema might've looked like if they were still made today which almost everything is spontaneously ridiculous. Obviously influenced by the "Fast And The Furious" films and a better watch than the more serious overtones of "Biker Boyz". 3 out of 4
