I'd heard good reviews for this and saw that it played at sxsw, and then to make it even more convenient it got distributed via netflix instant :p I'll give it credit for daring to make a movie about sexual fetishes and treat them in a realistic, (somewhat) serious way, there were some I hadn't heard of before, however at times it's pretty uncomfortable to watch, not the fetishes themselves, but the way the fetishists manipulate and lie to their loved ones to fulfill them, I definitely felt bad on more than one occasion, also several stories aren't really resolved, I'm not saying I needed a happy ending, but the stories just didn't feel complete. Also makes sex just sound like the most unappealing, complicated, unfun thing ever (well at least to me but then again i'm messed up XD)

The 15 minutes of this film before it's final 2 minutes belong somewhere in a Richard Curtis film and is the only brilliant piece in this whole wasted project with great ideas. If anything, just watch it for that scene that begins at 1 hour 12 minutes and 30 seconds in and ends at 1:28:18. That needs to be a short film produced on it's own and is one of the best love stories I've seen on screen this year. Otherwise the rest of this movie really tries to work and just becomes entirely mean-spirited and somewhat repulsive. The film as a whole just fails because it wants to be a dark comedy but tries to have a heart at the same time and it all is just a mess and doesn't work unfortunately. Pedro Almodóvar should remake it.

An awkward, boring and poorly executed array of sequences involving somewhat connected stories and characters form the basis for The Little Death; a film intent on exploring numerous strange and wacky sexual preferences. Despite numerous heart warming portions, namely the final sequence between a deaf man and an interpreter, Josh Lawson's comedy doesn't fully understand exactly what it is in terms of tone, and its ending leads credence to such. Overly raunchy, unnecessary in mood swings and completely inconsistent, The Little Death only proves somewhat enjoyable due to its wild fascination with sexual preference, decent performances and length, which never seems to feel bloated (which is a God send for a comedy; too many comedies nowadays don't know when to wrap up properly).Michael Yezerski's score is the standout of the picture, the jazz composition utterly sensational.
