In the early 1970s, Nicholas Garrigan, a young semi-idealistic Scottish doctor, comes to Uganda to assist in a rural hospital. Once there, he soon meets up with the new President, Idi Amin, who promises a golden age for the African nation. Garrigan hits it off immediately with the rabid Scotland fan, who soon offers him a senior position in the national health department and becomes one of Amin's closest advisers. However as the years pass, Garrigan cannot help but notice Amin's increasingly erratic behavior that grows beyond a legitimate fear of assassination into a murderous insanity that is driving Uganda into bloody ruin. Realizing his dire situation with the lunatic leader unwilling to let him go home, Garrigan must make some crucial decisions that could mean his death if the despot finds out.

This movie was hilarious and heartfelt and a real slice of life during the holidays,,, at least in some segments of the African-American community. One of these days critics are going to catch up with what resonates with moviegoers who don't look like them. Or maybe the answer is more critics who look like the American population and moviegoers in general. And,maybe, just maybe, we'll get more content with diverse casts, writers and directors, Then, when a critic says, "... (a movie) isn't distinctive enough to prompt a visit to the theater." They won't be pulling wool out of their arse or making statements that don't reflect the fact that a $17 million dollar movie made $42 million at the box office. It was thoroughly enjoyable. And it's currently running on HBO right in time for the holidays. :-)

I just want to start off by saying how excited I am for John Michael Higgins and myself on opening the first Air B&B&D&D&S&M in the name of the late great snooker star John Higgins. It'll be named Snooker or Later, inspired by the earthbound actor John Micheal Higgins latest film Almost Christmas. Danny Glover said he has mitten a place like this for years, he remembered when he was a boy and his grandmama would scarf him around town and finally gloved him into the local BBDDSM knowing he would lay dormant in his cocoon until he would molt and become a beautiful Dannyboy and would indeed never be to old for this shit. We don't accept coupons, groupings or chewpons.

I took my wife to see this as she loves dance and ballet. For me, not my favorite things. When the movie started I found out it had other styles of music like 'hip hop' and what I can 'street dancing'! Early on I was think oh Lord help me stay awake. But very quickly I realized that the music, dancing, and overall talent displayed during this movie was compelling. I had to watch listen and in the end TOTALLY enjoy! It is a hopeful sign to see that we still have great young talented dancers and musicians that are making these movies...YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE....!
