The Fate of the Furious (2017)

I have to say that I’m not a particular fan of The Fast & Furious franchise. Specially this one which is direct sequel of Furious 7 (2015). The initial premise wasn’t very appealing to me and later on I just couldn’t bother to tune in. Recently, though, their movies had acquired a significant amount of star power and this convinced me to watch the movie online. Also this movie had become some of the highest grossing films of all-time so I was naturally intrigued. This one is the eight entry in the franchise so one might think that it would’ve become somewhat stale. Fortunately, Fast and Furious was able to evolve over time with each entry after the fifth trying to out-do the former with more and more over-the-top, cartoon action.
And this one is no different. There are scenes with hundreds of cars flying and crashing all over the place, secret Russian nuclear submarines exploding beneath ice and Jason Statham fighting while carrying a baby. If that sounds a bit ridiculous it’s because it absolutely is and if you like that sort of stuff you’ll probably have at least some fun watching the film. And I did free download this movie and had some fun. Objectively, this film suffers from a lot of problems. A lot of them you can set aside primarily due to the sheer cheesiness of the movie but some do deter from the enjoyment. The pacing sometimes drags near the middle of the runtime when there’s a lot of dialogue which just isn’t the film’s main strength. The plot is also very basic, full of hole and feels like a rehash of thematics depicted a hundred times before. As I’ve said there is still some fun to be had with this movie and it apsolutely embraces its corniness. It’s a 3 for me.

Risen is a powerful biblical film that takes a unique look at the Resurrection story. After putting down the latest Jewish rebellion, Roman Tribune Clavius is charged with overseeing the crucifixion of the self-proclaimed Messiah Yeshua; but things take an unexpected turn when Yeshua's body disappears from his tomb, forcing Clavius to lead an intensive search to find it in order to prevent his follows from proclaiming a miracle and inciting another rebellion that would bring down the wrath of Caesar. Starring Joseph Fiennes, Tom Felton, Peter Firth, and Cliff Curtis, the film has a strong cast that delivers some impressive performances. And, the production values are especially good; particularly the score, which is quite evocative and full of sweeping themes. Inspirational and compelling, Risen is a visionary film with a fresh new perspective on the death and resurrection of Christ.

Decent film,Saw one comment about doesn't everyone know the story well sadly not these days kids don't seem to know it these days unless there in church,They did a survey for instance where most schools kids seemed to beleive that hitler for instance was not a real person!!quiet shocking really,Most kids probable know more about Islam these days than Christianity sad :(Also as we get into end times there will be more deception and there will be less freedoms on us as Christians so it's ever more important that people are able to see the story so they have choice to either look into it further or to turn away.

This was such an excellent movie. The acting, script, production values, and story were top-notch. I'm quite familiar with Roman history and culture from my own classical studies, as well as with the various accounts of the crucifixion and the events surrounding it, and this was an amazingly accurate production, both historically and biblically. The socio-political climate in which the events occur are portrayed vividly and effectively, the main characters are well fleshed-out, and the cognitive dissonance of the Roman tribune tasked with finding the missing body is palpable as he is faced with revelations that threaten to completely destroy his worldview, thanks largely to a stellar performance by Joseph Fiennes. This movie is challenging, captivating, and highly recommended!
