Good pace. Not too slow, not rushed. Great antihero. Denzel, as always delivers meaningful communication of depth and gravitas with his unique method of creating idiosyncratic physicality in character, while still bring the essence of his flavor of spirit. Martin Csokas and the other lower billed actors like David Harbour rounded out with some committed character work. I love Melissa Leo. Her brief scenework along with Bill Pullman gave a nice feel to McCall's back story.

Movie goers looking for an action packed treat should really check this one out. With a slick performance by Denzel Washington, The Equalizer may seem like a normal vigilante action pic, but I found that it has much more heart and drama than other famous action movies. It reminds a lot of John Wick, which came out the same year. A bad ass character, drama, impressive and gory action sequences and Russian mobsters, you name it, this film has it all and is overall a good movie. I'm curious what the sequel, coming out soon, is going to be like.

My motivation to watch this movie was purely out of respect for the veteran actor Mr Denzel Washington. The movie thrilled and entertained adequately but it deeply lacked originality and finese. The plot centres around vengeance and justice with archetypal characters that just reeks of misconstrued stereotypes. Hollywood was once guilty of depicting the black guy as the baddie who usually deal drugs and Latinos as loud month salsa movers, yet here we are reliving the condescending attitude of yet another misunderstood immigrant groups and these are the Russians. Sure the black and Latino guy is the hero but at what price.... Denzel look for better thought out script that speak truth and not the distorted truth
