‘Stratton’ is very like ‘Eat Locals’ of the films seen recently. In that the concept showed a lot of promise, that could have worked when done right, and that talented actors were on board and could have been good with the right material. Unfortunately the promise of ‘Stratton’s’ premise is completely butchered by near-irredeemably bad execution. The cast also deserved much better than what they get here, and the performances are underwhelming nearly all round. Only some instances of slick cinematography and a fun boat chase save ‘Stratton’ from being worse. Oh, and Derek Jacobi, the fine actor and professional that he is, does his best with what he is given, though in a way he is wasted with an underwritten character and terrible dialogue. The rest of the cast struggle. Dominic Cooper replaced Henry Cavill, who would have been a much better choice, at short notice, and he comes over as too lightweight for a role that really does not suit him at all and looks ill at ease. Tom Felton chews the scenery to pieces, one would not think that he was a bright spot in the ‘Harry Potter’ films judging from his performance here. Gemma Chan is also bland.
Worst of all is Connie Nielsen, who looks completely and utterly bored as a character who couldn’t have been more uninteresting, one actually feels sorry for him. Furthermore, in a film full of execrable dialogue Nielsen has the duffest of the lot and it comes over loud and clear that she knows that, her English accent, which she really struggles with, is one of the worst of the past decade too. In fact, the best performance comes from Jacobi.
It’s not just the cast that disappoints. Everything else is bad. ‘Stratton’ constantly has a straight-to-video look, which it would have been if made 20-25 years ago. Especially bad is the incomprehensible editing which makes the ho-hum at best (a lot of it is actually incredibly pedestrian and has no excitement at all, apart from one and even that, while fun, is not exactly mind-blowing) action indecipherable at times.
Music score is never dynamic or fitting, it even sounds cheap and like it would have been out of date even in a film from 20 plus years previously. The dialogue is execrable throughout, and the story is disjointed, dull and with no surprises at all. The characters are cardboard one-dimensional stereotypes that don’t engage or relate to the audience in any way. Simon West’s direction is completely devoid of tension, style or sense of pace, this is an amateur hour directing job.

Watched this as a campy trashy t&a gorror film for bowling theme night. The script and directing are abysmal. The technical work would be passable if this was 1980 and shot on home video cameras. But for a full theatrical film, it just makes you pity how behind the times Canada must be. The acting couldn't be worse if strippers were attempting Shakespeare. Everyone in the film plays like their only intention is to show their tits (or equally fake penis) and then get killed. There aren't even enough clever bowling puns used for the killings. You'd have to be very high to enjoy this film. At least twice as high as the people who made it must have been to put this shit out!

Lame attempt at creative grindhouse schlock. How lame is it? A brutal rape scene is almost comical. How the hell do you turn a violent attack like that and make light of it? Even in a comedy, it's a line you don't cross. It's like a 9/11 window-washing joke or something horribly offensive. If you are really bored one night, are out of Doritos and beer and your girlfriend/boyfriend just dumped you, then watch this film. Then after you watch it maybe you'll be motivated to go buy beer and Doritos or find a new boyfriend/girlfriend rather than watch this POS on a Friday night.

Tut Tut Tut such negitive reviews. Im guessing you ALL missed the point of this film and that its a parody of those 80's slasher films. A lady get brutaly raped and her friends and foes are killed one by one in a sexualy graphic manner during one bolwing night. The acting I admit is over the top and fuck is said 512 times thouout the whole film setting a record but the kills are impressive and also sexual in nature. One death involving a trannie is as sick as they come and will have any man holding his privates protectly as its THAT sick and yes worse then Cannibal holocaust

Hahah possibly the worst slasher horror movie ever made. I honestly thought it was from the 80's the noticed it was from 2008. Talk about a throwback to the good ol' days of horror. The soundtrack is great. The killer is so ridiculous and the only things worse is the acting and dialog. So truly awful, but so much great fun because of its sheer audacity. It is like a comedy version of I Spit On Your Grave. Tasteless and totally moronic.I love the one scene though where two of the characters need to make a run for it and escape the lunacy of finding a dead severed head in the ball return, and he finishes his beer first. Pure genius.
