This movie is a love hate relationship in full force. I love the beginning sequence where thy are on a planet doing a mission, but then the ship is in the ocean instead of space, just stupid. Kirk gets demoted for violating the prime directive, interesting, but gets his commission back almost immediately because of an attack, really? They are out to get a terrorist, ok sounds like this could get intense. Who turns out to be Khan, noooooooo just no! The whole film is like that.

again, another fun, spectacular action packed movie that fits the same model as 2009 ST, following the alternate timeline this movie reboots more characters and story lines from the original movies, in this case, the classic khan, looking for revenge against the federation. cumberbatch does a great job in the role and all the other crew is back, and its to their credit that they take mediocre dialogue and are able to bring it to life at all.

Into Darkness is a superb addition to the Star Trek franchise. Growing on the its intended re-guivenated predecessor it continues on interesting characters and their relationships whilst providing even more action the second time around. Its successes is heavily down to Abrams ability to balance story, humour and character work. The tone is darker this time round with the introduction of Khan. Into Darkness is a thoroughly enjoyable watch which excels above many forgettable sci-fi movies.
