Cashing in on the boom in superhero films is this ... what is it? A Sin City knockoff? Most probably, with a heavy nod to the film noir of the late 1940's/early 1950's, only w/o a connection to any of that. It's like kids dressing up as Mommy and Daddy. One of those films of which description begins with the words: "its sooooo bad that ..."? Yes, all of that.

As far as semi-realistic superhero movies go, this is the worst. So which were better? Well, 'Defendor', 'Watchmen', 'Super', 'Mystery Men' and even 'The Specials'. Several thing bothered me about this movie, for one the effects which were just terrible at some points. Then comes the story, which isn't terrible on its own, just terribly executed. The acting is sub par and I swear to god Ashley Bell is nowhere near as hot as they pretend she is in this movie. This isn't an indie movie, it's just crappy and I could hardly wait for it to finally be over.

I was really wanting to like this. I stuck it out until the end, but I still feel like I got hosed. All the blaring mistakes were distracting from the movie. Like the ladder he climbs down into the sewer that mysteriously has no rungs above the four or five above the bottom of the sewer. This reminds me of a student project with professional actors. Thank goodness this wasn't the team chosen to do Lord of the Rings. I am sure anyone who really loves the graphic novel groaned through the majority of the movie.
