This movie proves that with good direction, writing, casting, and action that a manga or anime property can successfully transition into live action. I've been a huge fan of Rurouni Kenshin since I watched the anime on Toonami, and read the manga which is my favorite comic series, and Takeru Sato and Emi Takei bring to life Kenshin and Kaoru much better than even the best US Comic book movie casting. And the story delivers on a plot that works for a 2 hour run time but also honors the early Rurouni Kenshin story.

As of writing, this is one of the (if not THE) best live action manga/anime adaptation. The cast are spot on, and the movie knows and respects its manga root very beautifully. The action piece and the fight sequence are very artistically choreograph, very true to the manga, which only add another excellent reason to see this if you can. A start of an epic and high valued trilogy, that will blow your mind away.

I always like sword fight. Since Jedi stuff, LotR, to Kill Bill rampage. But need to admit that Hollywood are not on par with the thing that Japanese can made. So the best sword fight movie I've watch so far is this one. Need to take account that I have a lot of bias. That I have this Samurai X manga as the bible of all sword fight thing. Since the live adaptation can bring those move on the screen and most of the time made it feel realistic and fun to watch so I will buy the collector edition now.
