While this Scorsese production doesn't go too deep, it tells a story of how different groups operate within the system; how, at least for these Asian gang members, there was no honor among competing gangs, and not even within the same gang. Eventually, the meteoric rise of two brothers into an increasingly powerful gang evaporates almost as quickly as it had first sprung up. Nothing is left but an empty shell as the gang implodes on itself. It operated corruptly, dangerously, and with total disregard, eventually, for even itself). I do give high marks to the interplay that develops between CIA agent Bloom (Ray Liotta) and the ever-smirking Snakehead Mama (played by Eugenia Yuan) in the supermarket scene. Overall, this is an OK film to watch in your spare time, but definitely not a must-see.

This is one ultra-violent movie, typical of a Martin Scorcese gangster film. Strangely, the brutal violence is somehow balanced by the "normal world" scenes with Ray Liotta, who plays an FBI agent. Asian actors usually don't wow me with their acting performances, but Eugenia Yuan's portrayal of "Snake Head Mama" made me want to rewatch this one scene with Liotta's character a few times. Moviegoers may not like it too much, but Revenge Of The Green Dragons is a thought-provoking and disturbing look into gang culture and human trafficking, and, like Goodfellas and The Departed, the movie is based on true events.

Im not sure why there are so many poor reviews on this movie. The gang/mafia subject has been shown many times but this is the first one I know of that depicts the life of Asian Americans, its a fresh perspective from this angle alone. The movie centers around two unwilling recruits and give strong attention to their perspectives before and after joining the gang. I was also surprised multiple times by the plot twists and I never had any idea what was going to happen next. Overall, I found it to be very enjoyable. Maybe a lot of the audience just dont have any interest in seeing a movie about Asian gangs with no white male character saving the day.
