When a child's body turns up at a construction site of local building magnate John Dawson, Eddie has another thread to pull. By now, he's begun an affair with Paula, the widowed mom, and he suspects collusion among Dawson, the police, and his newspaper - but what are they covering up?

This is a very cinematic film that showcases the talent with the Australian film industry. Dafoe is great in the lead role and is surrounded by local talent who are either well established or on the way up. The film is more poetic and indie compared to the normal grim films Australia produces, it is a slow dramatic film with a gut punch finale. The film has a true myth storyline regarding a tiger who was hunted to extinction, Dafoe is tracking what could possibly be the last of its kind. I have always circled this film and never actually took the chance but don't regret watching the film. Great showcase for all filmmakers and actors involved. 01-08-2017.

Willem Dafoe. *APPLAUSE* Either you're a Willem Dafoe fan (and we're out Martin (Dafoe) sets out to see if he can find what he's been hired to find; he also starts looking for the father and husband of the crew in the hippie shack. Turns out he's been "missing" for a while... This movie is for seeing beauty, recognizing fragility, and pondering what loneliness does to a soul. And even Martin turns out to have some redeeming qualities. This is NOT a movie for "Boondock Saints" fans, this is one of the movies Dafoe does after he's paid the rent with bigger films... obviously to shake the dust off and really become a fascinating character. Ending will rip tear your heart out. Does the hunter find another lonely soul ? Not telling. Beautifully done.

This movie is about a hunter who gets a job to go to Australia to find and kill, what appears to be, the last Tasmanian tiger! The movie's story is interesting, and I always found myself wondering if he's actually going to find one and kill it. The characters are interesting, especially Martin. The family he's staying with is almost a wreck. It was interesting seeing him take care of them, though it was obvious the family was there only for us to have someone to care about and be sad if they died. The movie looks great! The scenery is beautiful. Unfortunately, the movie does tend to be boring at times. There were a few scenes which felt unnecessary. The ending was exciting, yet predictable. All in all, a good movie about hunting with some thought-provoking themes, interesting characters, but a thin plot and a predictable ending.
