When I saw this at the theatre it was way to dark for most of the fight scenes and I would have only given it three stars. Now I have it on blu ray with a hi def TV and it is one of my favorite ninja movies. The action and fight scenes are intense. I love the parkour elements. The acting is not bad. The story is pretty good. Seeing Sho Kosugi, a ninja legend from the 80s really makes it an awesome movie to me. Plus on blu ray there is some great extra content that after seeing what went into this movie and what Rain put himself through to make this move have given me a deeper respect for it. The blood maybe a little overly excessive, but then again I never seen anyone actually hacked away like they are in this movie. For all I know it maybe the right amount of blood and gore. Definitely not something you want to watch with the kids.
ok for starters. ninjas are japanese, so why do they have a korean pop star as the main star. the rest of the ninjas are vietnames, and the dojo in located in china. the only thing japanese about the whole movie is the head ninja. even the actors in the beginning of the movie playing yakuza gang members arent even japanese. its like they said fuck it ninjas are a japanese thing but all asians are the same and no one will notice.
If your into this type of film then you would like it. It completely entertain me. I have seen lots of films like this and i think think for a ninja film it's in my top three. I've watched 4 times now. But the improvements could of been made with the exaggeration of there abilities, poor acting at times and the blood is like red paint.
