Monsters University doesn't have that fresh, revolutionary CGI look or the same catchy OST music as did Monsters Inc., and it's not as emotional or dramatic as the original movie. Also, the new characters seriously suck - especially the monsters in Oozma Kappa who weren't in the first movie. Boo was a much better character than they were. Also, the music in this movie is crap, "Gospel" isn't appealing as was the original movie's "Without You". Randall should NOT have been in this movie, this movie depicted him as a dork with funny glasses and this prequel disgraced his reputation as the sneaky, invisible and intense villain of the original Monsters movie.

OK follow up, looks sweet, but not that much sweeter than the first. The backrounds, with water and stuff looks better, otherwise it's surprizingly similar. It's a prequel on how Mike and Sulley met. They attended the same university, learning how to scare. They're approaches to the life of studying are different and they are up to the classic universety deals. Girls, parties, popular and not so popular kids. It's the same stuff like last time, just a bit less sharp and original. I like the contest thing, and the message. Maybe a bit too spoonfed message, though. I like the small hints of characters we met in the first film, but if I hadn't seen the first one the same day, I probably wouldn't remember them at all.6 out of 10 hats.

Pixar cater to their audience in its broadest form; they're family films, not 'kids films'. Monsters University embodies this philosophy. The witticisms, entertaining characters & immersive animation in Monsters University do good job in overshadowing a pretty predictable plot. The voice acting in Monsters University is always on point, and yet another great Randy Newman score keeps the film flowing nicely. Monsters University confronts kids with challenging themes: notably disappointment of unreachable' dream and strength it takes to overcome. Monsters University had a lot to live up to as a prequel to one of Pixar's most successful and celebrated films, and it did a good job. It lacks a bit of magic, plays it a bit safe, but it's following Monsters Inc - what can you do?
