Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is definitely an improvement in the Mission Impossible series. For the fourth movie in a series, this definitely is really good! Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton all give great lead and supporting performances. Brad Bird does a great job directing the film and it's definitely his best live action film! Seeing Tom Cruise climb the Burj Khalifa, the highest building in the world is really exciting and tense! Fans of the series will definitely love and it will leave audiences eager for the next chapter!

After a 6 year hiatus the mission impossible fanchise is breathed with new life in ghost protocol. After the kremlin is blown up, the IMF is dismantled and all that remains is Ethan Hunt and his team to stop a madman who believes that he's on a mission of peace. The stakes have never been higher and the movie is fun, suspenseful and action packed to the end. New additions to the cast are refreshing. Simon Pegg from the recent Star Trek reboot does a great job as the replacement to Ving Rhames. Jeremy Renner is great as the analyist with the troubled past and what can I say about Paula Patton other than shes beautiful and kicks butt. Another new addition to the cast is Micheal Niqvist from the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy as the main bad guy. If there is one flaw with this movie its that Micheal Niqvist doesnt get enough screen time but other than that the movies great Brad Bird did a great job of transitioning from animation to live action giving new life to a tired franchise.

Ghost Protocol does an excellent job of giving a spy thriller that actually thrills. Unlike other attempts at the genre, Ghost Protocol has a sense of realism to it while still delivering mind-bending stunts that Tom Cruise as usual pulls off to perfection. The story does a good job of getting the viewer to care about our heroes as a team as well as personally as we see a look into their personal lives. This allows the movie to tell the subtle theme of dealing with loss, something that the team nearly has to do. Yet with all the steaks that are at the table, the fate never seems to be out of hand and thus the story loses some epicness that Rogue Nation nailed to a tee. The villain is a bit to bland, and Ethan's ability to continually conquer everything without much of any struggle prevents the viewer from feeling in any true peril despite there being a nuclear bomb at steak. However, the thrills, excitement, and spy formula this film uses allows the viewer to be both attached the agents and their mission.
