London-based Jai Vardhan Singh and Meera Pandit meet, fall in love, and she introduces him to her family. Jai and Meera are young, in love, and are at a good place in their relationship until things begin to get too comfortable for Jai. With each having their own set of dreams and goals, they never planned for their future so the two end their relationship. As Meera leaves for India to pursue a restoration job, Jai meets Veer (who shares his own relationship experience). Two years later, Meera and Jai meet, and spend time together, in India. As love resurfaces, Meera is about to marry and Jai is on vacation with his present girlfriend. Realizing that Jai will not change, Meera decides to marry and put the past and Jai behind her. It is the dream job in San Francisco, and being alone, that realization sets in: Meera is the love of his life. Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rishi Kapoor, and Rahul Khanna stars. Worthy!
Saif Ali Khan et Deepika Padukone forment un duo qui fonctionne pour ce gros carton de l'année 2009 (derrière 3 idiots). Pour son troisième long métrage, Imtiaz Ali démontre avoir complètement intégré les codes du genre et raconte de manière classique comment la conciliation des valeurs de lâ??Inde avec la culture occidentale demeure un réel sujet pour Bollywood (la scène du métro de Delhi est un bon exemple). Quâ??on se rassure, tout est bien qui finit bien malgré une étonnante désacralisation du mariage et le spectateur reste avec le refrain « we twist » dans la tête pendant un bon moment. Mention spéciale à Giselli Monteiro/Harleen Kaur, brésilienne plus sikh que sikh, et à Florence Brudenell-Bruce, mannequin ex de Jenson Button (!) qui joue une suissesse avec un accent français très rafraîchissant.
On my way to IGGBASH, on the Volvo, they played this movie.. so, it had the privilege of being my 2nd Hindi movie of the year :P The movie was definitely well done. But I dont know what they were trying to get at. Was the movie trying to say that Love now a days is DIFFERENT or is it nothing different?The best part was the flashback punjabi stuff. The part in the present how they show "Ph we are just friends" nonsense. Its too unrealistic to believe. The part in california where Saif has a loop of daily life, was totally like that dexter episode where he enjoys being without DeeDee but later realises it. So many other things in the movie were just things that happened for one scene and didnt make sense. It didnt feel like a total waste however.
