I was looking forward to see this film and many other films from different countries..... It's been a while since I walked out of a movies midway through the screening..... Everything was great until they started singing........ I was like wtf!!!!! I get it there movies for all kinds of people..... And this wasn't for me.... Story was great but the singing just didn't sit well with me..... The cinematography was great and the acting was awesome.... The score seemed like recycled sony music score from old movies.... If it wasn't for the dance numbers and singing I would have given it a higher score...... It was just weird thats and yes I have watched many bollywood movies.... But I didn't think it would be in this movie...The street novelist

Was really looking forward to this one. Add to that the all the good reviews, and I guess I set myself up for disappointment. Many are using words like, innovative! Game-changer! But most of the humor fell flat. Seems like more a collection of skits than an interesting story. A young man is hired as a telemarketer and does well. There's one sort of funny joke about him using a dorky white man's voice to increase sales. He becomes very successful and is invited to come upstairs to make real money selling over the phone. Turns out he will be selling the equivalent of human slavery. Not sure who the director and writer were trying to Lampoon. But the disorganized Direction and hit or miss script makes this a below-average comedy / satire.

Best comedy of the year so far. Damn it's good. Provocative, disturbing, and hilarious. It's a little reminiscent of Get Out, but in a good way. I expected it to cover the same kind of racial politics as that movie, and it did a bit, but it's a lot more about classicism and how the capitalist structure of our society makes us complacent. I don't wanna say too much about it, it's probably not for everyone though it's very weird. If that sounds up your alley check it out as soon as you can. It is crazy that this is Boots Riley's first feature, I am very excited about where his filmmaking career is going to go.
