Following the break-up with and imminent divorce from her entertainment lawyer husband David, thirty-something Amy moves back in with her upper middle class parents Ruth and Stan Minsky in Westport, Connecticut. David asked for the divorce following an affair he had with who Amy considered a friend. Knowledge of the affair and David asking for the divorce came out of left field for Amy, who thought she had the perfect marriage. In her surprise and shock about David, she left David basically with the clothes on her back, and has not asked for anything in the divorce settlement. Three months later, she is still in a depressed state, not leaving the house and not knowing what to do with her life. She has no real job experience, has only a liberal arts degree, and abandoned her Master's degree studies in Photography to marry David. She believes her parents have mixed feelings about her return. Very funny look at LARPers and their antics. Very nicely written and shot. But if your looking for a great movie about LARPing the Wild Hunt is a much better movie but it is dark and way way way more dramatic. But if you saw that and just said, "hey I just wanna laugh at these nerds not cry for em." Then this is your movie and don't call us nerds. Although if you want a fun funny entertaining movie that is well written and a treat to watch. See the Gamers: Dorkness Rising. It is way funnier than this but had a lower budget. But be warned if you are not interested in D&D style games then all of these movie will just leave you scratching your head asking "why they hell are they dressed like that?"

I saw this movie twice at GenCon in Indianapolis, IN in 2011. It is my firm and steadfast opinion that it was the best part of my time there. Each character is 100% believable. Anyone who has gamed has known at least one of the characters portrayed, be it the overbearing and power hungry GM, the one who takes it WAY too seriously, or the face-sucking couple. The story is amazingly detailed and wonderfully simple, firmly rooted in fantasy and lightly influenced by reality. This is a wonderful movie for any person, young or old, not just gamers. It's for anyone who has ever wanted adventure, anyone who ever picked up a stick and imagined it was Excalibur. It is a must see for veteran gamers, n00bs, and non-gamers alike.

I was hesitant about seeing this movie the first time. The information given in my Chicago Comic Con events list sounded slightly ridiculous. I've since seen UC three times, and I feel that's not enough to fully appreciate this movie. The characters are great, the acting even better and the storyline was simple and sweet. I'm not a LARPer, nor am I a gamer really, but I was still able to follow and even relate to this movie with ease. I look forward to the day I'll be able to see this movie again. It's a movie that put a smile on my face within the first ten minutes, and left a smile on my face long after it ended. I adored this movie beyond belief. And Voss.
