Exciting and fast-paced, Faster is a high-octane thriller. The story follows a recently released convict who's on a mission to kill the gang that set him up and murdered his brother. Dwayne Johnson leads the cast and gives a strong performance. And the supporting cast is also pretty good, and includes Billy Bob Thornton and Carla Gugino. Additionally, the action scenes are incredibly intense and gritty. But, the plot's a little weak and underdeveloped; using a lot of the typical clich?s of a revenge film. Still, while it's a bit formulaic, Faster uses that to its advantage so that it can get straight to the hard hitting action.

The Rock is an absolute badass, just a complete and utter man mountain who can kick all kinds of can. I just wish this movie was better. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it but I think the only reason I really did was because of the Rock. It's a typical by the numbers revenge tale with little to offer in the way of originality. Now you know me, I don't need every single movie I see to be a complete out of left field original, but I expect a little more. Faster is one of those flicks that leaves me what might have been if you got this right. Watching this makes me feel how awesome Rock would be as Frank Castle aka The Punisher.

The Rock is released from prison, but then he goes on a murderous rampage. Carla Gugino and Billy Bob Thorton come in to investigate and believe he knows the people he is killing. Also, a hitman is sent to kill The Rock by an anonymous person. We later learned he was a driver and on a heist, his group was robbed and left for dead. He managed to find out who the gang was and is out to kill all of them. He eventually meets up with one of them who turned to religion and became a pastor but can't come to kill him. Then you find out the twist of the person who set everything up and it was actually the cop investigating him. A pretty decent movie, doesn't do anything new, but is a fun way to waste some time.
