Alright, I see a lot of hate going around for this film. I have to disagree with a lot of it. Pauly Shore was nearing his peak of greatness when this film came out. He was an icon for being crazy and fun. That is exactly what this movie is, a crazy fun time. This was my favorite comedy growing up. This film also sparked Fraser's career and Astin's comeback. Astin went on to make Rudy, which is one of the greatest films ever made. Pauly Shore owned the 90s, you have to understand that first. It has some amazing surfer dialogue, and it is still being used today. If you want to have some fun, watch this film. It's free everywhere on the net. Two Thumbs up for three great actors.

Dumb is just not a strong enough word to describe this film, but oddly enough, this films plot is so stupid, that I had already forgotten about it 20 minutes in, because the actors really made something of their characters and I ended up enjoying this movie. Sure it's humour is dated, as it was trying to keep up with the trends of the early 90's, but you can easily out yourself back into that time period, as it was not that long ago. Frozen for thousands of years, a caveman is thawed in the 20th Century and must adapt and learn to speak. There are a lot of obvious gags, but others that I really did enjoy. It may be a mad movie overall, but I have no problem saying that I enjoyed watching it. "Encino Man" is worth a watch if you like dumb humour.

Encino Man is absolutely one of the worst films I have ever seen. Ok, maybe it's not that bad, but it was so awful that I stopped an hour in. One of the awfully cliched teen movies of the early 90s that tries to blend in Bill and Ted and Wayne's World humor and miserably fails.The story's pretty simple. Sean Astin and Pauly Shore find a frozen caveman (Brendan Fraser) in their backyard and try to hide him from their parents, get him adjusted to modern day lifestyles, etc. It's surfer dude humor from there, and there wasn't one moment when I laughed. Of course, any sane person wouldn't ever really laugh at a movie with Pauly Shore. A definite one to skip. For fans of REAL humor, you'll hate Encino Man for sure.
