Vulgar, twisted and humor as disgusting as it gets this side of South Park. And it was all done by chicks. So great!! Kristen Wiig finally gets a vehicle to show off her talent away from SNL and, based on critical and audience response, has hit it out of the park. The only real problem is that the theme rode the coattails of The Hangover and was entirely too long at two hours and five minutes. There was about 30 minutes that could have been eliminated. But it was a great mindless flick and consistently funny, not just spotty parts for the trailers. John Hamm shines as an absolute sleazeball boyfriend!!
120831: For months I resisted watching this movie. Everything screamed out bad to me. Every woman I met told me how funny it was. No men though. With that, I finally got around to watching this film because I desperately wanted some laughs. Something modern, something funny. Well, I waited 45 minutes for the laughs but they did come. I found myself laughing quite a bit but it took food poisoning humor. There is some entertainment to be had here. You just have to wait for it. Then you have to go through the seemingly standard serious crap, in this case, the love you moments. No wonder the chicks liked it.
If you have any intent on watch the movie, let me be clear - watchingit free is still too much to ask for this piece of crap. Get ready for2h of over exaggerated fart jokes, which seem to be the works of a 10year old, unfunny dialogue written by morons and a depiction of humanbehavior characteristic to the mentally ill. Don't waste your time watching this movie, better look at paint dry.. On the up-side some of the characters are very well depicted by the actresses and Chris O'Dowd performance of an actual, normal, human being is really refreshing. He was probably the one who drew the long straw, thus wining the only well created character...Bravo!
I love it. It's well written, and well performed by actors I always enjoy watching (and, I admit, Rebel Wilson, whose natural repellence is utilised to great effect). Feig handles things admirably, and the Apatow influence is obvious in the more real, human moments, but it's Wiig's show, and she's absolutley fantastic (the scene on the plane contains some of the best comic acting I've seen in ages, and the bridal shower tanty is a wonder to behold). I'm always happy to see Rose Byrne, and she delivers another excellent, understated straight-funny performance. Melissa McCarthy is...memorable (totally in a good way). Great to see COD's profile get another boost - he deserves it.
