The art direction and the film in general was good and well directed. Tim Burton managed to create a flashback and make it seem like another universe as it is so different to the cinematography of the parts that aren't a flash back; one was dark and the flashbacks were bright and colourful. The acting wasn't the best and the plot was hard to follow at the beginning, but the purpose of the film becomes more evident towards the end. It was interesting to watch but long and slightly repetitive in some places. As it was directed by Tim Burton, the film was generally a bit random and the characters were made to seem a bit creepy. I would recommend this film more for the cinematography than the plot.

Big Fish fue una de esas pel?culas de inicios de los 2000s donde Tim Burton parecía comenzar a despegarse poco a poco de su estilo tan marcado y parecía que era capaz de expandirse más allá de su fantasía pseudo gótica, pero sin perderse a sí mismo (podemos ver muchos rastros de la suburbia bucócila de Eduardo Manostijeras en partes de esta cinta). No solo eso, sino que además podemos ver las buenas capacidades del cineasta dirigiendo al estupendísimo reparto con el que contó en la cinta. (Lástima que luego volvió a la carga con lo suyo, posiblemente por la recepción algo más fría de esta película).Es verdad que Big Fish es edulcorada como ella sola, pero aun así no podemos negar los elementos que la hacen una gran obra.Sin duda una de las películas a tener en cuenta en la filmografía del cineasta.
