Terrible - one's suspension of belief has to be in overdrive for this one. If you think a little bit - she's got this memory problem, yet relatives and her best friend have not checked on her for four years. How do they think she is getting by? She can't remember to see a doctor, yet the doctor is up to date on her (except for one big fact) and has supplied a camera for her. However he doesn't see her in person. It does have tension and mystery, and good actors to watch (in so-so roles) so one star for that.

When I see a movie with a superb cast of actors I really enjoy, but with a plot that is so thin it is transparent, I feel as though I'm watching friends being shipped off to prison. Modern thrillers feel as though they need some grand twist, but if the twist makes little sense once it is revealed the entire film collapses. Before I Go To Sleep is one such example. The contrivances are beyond comprehension so the whatever intrigue has built up evaporates in an instant. Pity, since whenever you can get Colin Firth and Mark Strong in the same film you should have material worthy of their great talents.

A riveting emotional thriller about a woman (Nicole Kidman) who wakes every morning with no memory of the days/years since a traumatic brain injury years ago. Her husband (Colin Firth) patiently has to reintroduce himself to her every morning, but unbeknownst to him a doctor (Mark Strong) is secretly treating her, trying to help her recover the memory of what happened to her. As memories start to resurface, the mystery and menace builds. I'm startled by all the negative reviews of this film, because I found it to be an absorbing, fascinating, suspenseful story with outstanding performances by the 3 lead actors.
