When his brother is killed in a robbery, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

Such wonderful visuals accompany a talented cast, that lacks story, but more than replaces it with character. James Cameron is one of the best directors when it comes to visuals and characters, and Avatar does not disappoint. It's no Aliens, mostly due to it's incoherent storyline and somewhat generic moments, but it's still a good, easy-to-watch film, that at its worst moments is above average.

Avatar is a fantastic sci-fi film written and directed by James Cameron that a lot of audiences including myself have enjoyed. It's a story about standing up for what's right and there are a lot of lessons learned throughout the film. The groundbreaking visual effects is one of the best things about this film showing audiences an authentic environment on another planet. This film is definitely enjoyable and it reaffirms James Cameron as a good director, filmmaker and imaginative storyteller.

This is for sure the best movie of all time. What a masterpiece this was. This movie should have won best picture in the Oscars, Sam Worthington should have been nominated and should have won best actor, Zoe Saldana should have been nominated and should have won best supporting actress, and Stephen Lang should have been nominated and should have won best supporting actor. Everything about this movie was so amazing in every way. This film could not have been any better. It has a great journey for you to experience and enjoy. This is my all time favorite. The second half of the movie blew me away so much, that's what definitely made me love this movie so much. Avatar is a movie that everyone should watch and enjoy. It's the most magical adventure anyone would ask for.
