A film that overflowed with depression but sometimes uplifting. The story based on a true story focuses on a free black man who is abducted into slavery, the life he has to relish in is so difficult and full of tyranny. I really like the role of Michael Fassbender who became the most fraud who ever existed and Chiwetel Ejiofor with his character full of someone with no hope at all. There are some famous actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, and Brad Pitt despite they just have a little role. Lupita Nyong'o also won an Oscar with her brilliant acting but a misleading title that became my predicament because I didn't feel the slightest of "12 years." But I understand how Steve McQueen wants to introduce this movie to everyone.

Today is December 14 2016 and this is my first time watching this movie even though it was publish in 2013. I was scared to watch this movie because i had seeing movies about slavery. I felt like most movie if life as a slavery is not accurate but 12 years of slave made me see the brutally our people when through. I would recommend this movie to anyone to see. I will advice american people to take a look at this movie and see what we donor want to go back into especially with our new president in 2017.

After Benedict Cumberbatch's place, until Brad Pitt came in, I was pretty bored. It didn't completely suck, but it wasn't as good as the rest. Especially in the beginning, with a great score that I felt really worked when it played and added to scenes, editing that was fantastic, and great cinematography including a few single shot scenes that were brilliant (those happened all throughout.) But the whole movie has a great performance from Chiwetel Ejiofor, really great performances from (I think underrated) Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Pitt, and Paul Dano, decent direction, and writing that isn't bad or anything, but I was surprised that it won the Oscar. It also had some humor (I'm pretty sure it was on purpose because the writer has previously co-wrote Undercover Brother and created the Barbershop series.) I also liked Paul Giamatti for the little he was in there. The story is great, and I think is what mostly holds this all together, and makes it fresh.
