I think that TMNT is the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film since the 1990 film. In particular, I enjoyed how the plot outlined the long-stranding conflicts between Leonardo and Raphael, while also taking some time to explore Donatello and Michelangelo as well as April and Casey. Despite some convoluted plot elements reminiscent of past shows, it manages to hold itself together and make for some pretty fun popcorn entertainment. It's a funny, exciting action film with a surprising amount of heart thrown into the mix. I think that it's easily one of the best films of its particular franchise. I also think that this film doesn't get nearly enough credit as it deserves. If nothing else, it is a fun film that deserves more respect than it deserves.

The turtles may not have quite the same history as say batman, but there are still plenty of good storylines in their past one could adapt to the big screen or use as a starting point or inspiration. You could also make up an entirely new story, but it should preferably be good, instead of being a mess most of which has nothing to do with the turtles anyway. The part of the story the brothers do feature in is focused on only two of them, and mostly fails in trying to be moody and gritty. The animation style is not really my taste, but I guess it's not too bad either.On the plus side, there is action, there is humor, there is entertainment in this flick. But it's not the highpoint of the franchise.

I wanted to see something that would go more into the early history of the turtles. But this movie's major plot has NOTHING to do with anything from the two TV shows, and goes on to a plot which can only be summed up a a CGi feature-length episode of the 2003 series. The character depth wasn't all that great. And Mako playing Splinter? Mako's WAY to high pitched for Splinter! It wasn't a horrible movie, but I wouldn't waste my money on it. The ending thing with Mikey's costume helmet was kinda funny, though. The best part of the movie was those three seconds.
