"The Skeleton Twins" is an unusual, but perfect vehicle for two of the best SNL has ever produced, Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig, who play emotionally stunted and damaged siblings making their way through life after never having fully recovered from the suicide of their father, flakiness of their mother and a surprising split themselves years earlier. It's a refreshing change to see such talented actors show dramatic chops after being known so strongly for their comedy. I wish other SNL stars had followed this same career path. The story is very raw, well-written, perfectly-acted and authentic in its presentation.

I didn't get all the hoopla about this film. The whole thing comes out so phoney all along. It starts with a stupid suicide. The guy says he loves his fish but have no issue ditching it. Despite the obvious friendliness of the actors, they were phoney all over. Nothing rang true at any time. Fake, fake, fake. All so fake. Only englishes with all their psychopathies can possibly think this was looking real. It was not funny either. Sad. Sad film. I was expecting much better with Kristen Wiig. Sorry for the low rating but this film is homersexual shafting. Very sad.

Bill Hader shines so surprisingly in a sombre, hauntingly accurate role of a depressed and suicidal gay man and along with Wiig manages to shed any vanity and perform brilliantly in this ultra-sad, ultra-dark comedy drama. The Skeleton Twins is an independent film about suicide that is more fun than it should be and features an amazing lip-sync scene to Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". How often can you say that about a film? Definitely worth a watch.
