An hour and 17 minutes of embarrassment. This is clearly aimed solely for toddlers, and it doesn't help either that the characters' journey to Color City feels dull and not very fun due to the film always playing it safe. It's because of movies like this the reason why people think animation is kids' stuff instead of viewing it as a genuine format of filmmaking. The Hero Of Color City is completely devoid of any creativity and/or originality. Adults will most likely not enjoy this since all it wants to do is just cater to kids, and that's why I wouldn't recommend this to anybody over the age of 7.

Actually not as horrible as it could be. Sure, it's meant for very young kids, but it has a naivete and sweetness I didn't expect. At the very least the female hero is a rarer sort in films - not a kickass girl, but a scardey-cat learning to confront the world. As for those Toy-Story complaints - while clearly partially inspired by it, the elements are quite distinct. The former was a buddy-comedy, this is a coming-of-age for toddlers. Toys coming to life is an old, old trope and you might as well say Toy Story is derivative of the TIn Soldier, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Golem mythology and the Prometheus myth. The doodles are fun little designs and it clearly works within a tight budget but does so nicely.

It starts off with several of the crayons out in the real world. They are getting back to the crayon box - and into their own world where crayons live the high life. But Yellow gets lost on the way back to the box, and meets up with several odd characters - a large guy and a small gnat. The guy and the gnat are looking to be colored in (they're just white outlines with a few features drawn in) They find out from Yellow about the Crayon Town, and they go there to get colored. When they get into the secluded world of the Crayons, they go up to the source of the color and try to get the color there. But the color won't stay on, so they block off the color from the rest of Color World. This causes a serious problem with the Crayons. If they don't restore the flow of color to the city, the crayons will lost their color and cease to exist. They send a crack (or is it cracked team?) to stop the guy and the gnat.
