(62%)An entertaining crime B-movie that marks a small improvement over the usual multiplex filler you always seem to find at the first quarter of the year. The cast is quite strong with the always decent Mark Wahlberg leading the way, and with the likes of Ben Foster, Kate Beckinsale, J.K Simmons and show stealer Giovanni Ribisi all forming a respectable package. The pacing is pretty decent; although this is more of a thriller than an all-out action film so don't expect tons of action. The script is very Hollywood at times and there's not a whole lot to get your teeth into, but overall this is a watchable time-passer coupled with a respectable cast and basic cinematic fun.

Exceptionally well â?? done movie, and this is coming from someone who is absolutely not a fan of the moviemakers' big trend now of "use a handheld camera, turn the iris down and wobble it as much as possible while following the people in the movie to make it more exciting". The plot is constructed beautifully, and its gradual build towards its suspenseful and keeps the viewer engrossed in every facet of it all the way through. It's one of Wahlberg's best works, and his supporting cast of Ribisi, Foster and Beckinsale are top-notch. The movie has now spawned a bunch of lesser-quality movies that are just like it, so spare yourself the trouble of going to those and see the original.

Thought this was a good enjoyable movie. Outstanding, not quite. Predictable? Yes. Still, fair amount of tense action. Although the movie was fairly predictable, it was generally a well organized movie. There are some reasonably good actors in this movie. To my surprise, Mark Wahlberg has been climbing the list of my favorite actors. While this was not his best outing, he still brings stability to this movie. It seems Hollywood has been sacrificing reasonably decent quality moderate budgeted movies for the all the rage comic tentpoles. Personally, I'm much rather see Hollywood make more of these types of movies. Every so often, the writing and acting can really make some of these movies shine. I'd say this movie falls short of being one of those special movies that rises to a high level. Overall I'd recommend this movie as a good enjoyable flick.
