Detective Go Geon-soo is having a hard day, and the following events happen to him in less than 24 hours: He receives a divorce notice from his wife. His mother passes away. He and his coworkers are investigated by police inspectors over alleged embezzlement. Then on his way to his mother's funeral, he drives recklessly and commits a fatal hit and run. He tries to cover-up the accident by hiding the man's corpse in his deceased mother's coffin. But someone has been watching all along, and Geon-soo gets a mysterious call from a person claiming that he was the sole witness to the crime, who now begins to threaten him.

A detective puts himself in some crazy situations following an accident that leaves one man dead and himself hiding the body. But not all was clear sailings, as somebody saw the events unfold. A smart film that starts out with blackmailing, only to ascend into deeper waters of police corruption and murder, with a strong showdown between hero and villain. This Japanese film gets it right when it comes to building tension and intrigue.

Its the old school style and charm that makes A Hard Day a decent thriller. A bribe taking detective finds himself with the worst day, as his mother has died, his wife is leaving him, he's being investigated by IA, and he's just killed someone in a hit and run. All of the little twists and payoffs make for a suspenseful film, even if it is a bit long at times. Enjoyable, but nothing too incredible.

A gritty, fast paced, over the top, Korean Bad Cop vs Very VERY Bad Cop thriller. The film is full of vibrant humor, excellent performances and bloody wall to wall in your face action. My only real complaint here (and this is with alot of films from this genre) is that it is a little over-long towards the end. I felt the last fight went on and on and on of course not MATRIX RELOADED LONG but it could have been edited a tad bit shorter for my taste. Anyone interested in Good action films should give this one a look. I wouldnt be surprise if there's already a deal in the works to make an American version. Its that good. Of course, people like me will sit around telling the the unaware of the superior original. :D Highly recommended viewing.
