With a script that is creative, and to be honest, I haven't seen any film with such level of creativity in quite some time. This film offers such a change from the common squeals or reboots that seem to be appearing more and more often in cinemas today. If films like these came out more often I would be a happy man. Even when I figured out the film's final surprise twist it didn't bother me because the way the film presented it was exciting and I left feeling very satisfied.

I don't know if I should celebrate, throw up, or denounce Predestination. Yup, it's one of those. Uncanny in its focus. Predestination bends more than just time in a unique take of time traveling tales. One thing is for sure; this movie will have you talking. Advised to keep your thinking hat on 'cause this one wormhole of messed up. Actually, the Spierigs have to be regarded as brilliant in the "what the", "who thought of that" way. Love or hate it (and you'll probably have a stance), Predestination is a must for fans of the time travel plots and Memento-esq weaving.

Predestination is one of those science fiction films that perfectly exemplifies everything that confuses and fascinates me about time travel. It's both brilliantly cerebral and mind bogglingly complex. But the movie tightly tells the complex story in 90 minutes, without sacrificing any nuance. It's one of the few movies that I can say I instantly knew I was going to buy the blu-ray right after the credits rolled. Among the many impressive aspects to the story, is the story-telling structure. It feels equally part Nolan and Kubrickian, with a bit of a David Lynch/David Fincher vibe mixed in. However most importantly, Predestination feels like an original film bolstered by performances from the always great Ethan Hawke, as well as the career making turn from Sarah Snook. The depths both of them take their roles, but particularly Snook, is fascinating. And surprisingly neither of them were considered for Oscar noms in 2015. In short, Predestination is one of the best sci-fi's of the last decade.
