The Toro cheerleading squad from Rancho Carne High School in San Diego has got spirit, spunk, sass and a killer routine that's sure to land them the national championship trophy for the sixth year in a row. But for newly-elected team captain Torrance, the Toros' road to total cheer glory takes a shady turn when she discovers that their perfectly-choreographed routines were in fact stolen from the Clovers, a hip-hop squad from East Compton, by the Toro's former captain. While the Toros scramble to come up with a new routine, the Clovers, led by squad captain Isis have their own problems - coming up with enough money to cover their travel expenses to the championships. With time running out and the pressure mounting, both captains drive their squads to the point of exhaustion: Torrance, hell bent on saving the Toros' reputation, and Isis more determined than ever to see that the Clovers finally get the recognition that they deserve. But only one team can bring home the title, so may the..

The creature design and the gore effects are all top notch, but the movie fails as a whole. It tries too hard to be funny, and the jokes never seem to land. It has a very inconstant tone which sets the film back drastically. I am not sure if the acting was intentionally bad, but no one in the movie did a good job. I don't mind a movie that winks at the camera, but this one comes off as trying way to hard. It is a wannabe grindhouse film, and is a complete mess from start to finish. Mindless splatter is fine, but it at least needs to be entertaining, and this one feast that I will not be asking for a second helping.

so this is one of those "let's make fun of the horror genre" type horror movies... and with fairly good ratings from the audience, i was excited to watch it (because really, who goes by the critic's reviews?) you could tell it was trying to be funny, but i just wasn't on board. i thought this was really stupid. i almost didn't finish it, but there was always that "what if" in the back of my mind, hoping that something awesome would happen and salvage my opinions of it. but that never happened. i wouldn't recommend it to anyone at all.

Using its writers' awareness of genre hallmarks, 'Feast' hopes its exploitation of stereotypes will carry it over as a wry homage to the creature feature genre. It doesn't quite pull it off, unfortunately, due to one overwhelming flaw: it's a pile of crap. It's cringe-inducingly awful from its thoughtless creature design, by the numbers characters right down to the z-grade rock soundtrack. There's nothing wrong with exploitation cinema. There's nothing wrong with a little post modern self awareness. But when an entire film is based on the premise that it's a parody of what it ultimately is, all you're left with is an unlikeable mess. FFS, at least 'Ticks' had Carlton from Fresh Prince. What the hell does 'Feast' have going for it?

This is a really solid 'trapped inside with monsters outside' movie and certainly the best film to come out of Project Greenlight. The writers put in some pretty clever horror movie references and do a pretty good job of spinning the tropes onto their heads and surprising us every few reels. The first 30 minutes and the last 20 minutes are really great, and if the middle portion kept up to speed with those this would be one of the best monster movies of the decade. But even with a mediocre middle this is still pretty good.
