Another very well made Asian epic! As we know Koreans are well known from their impressive works on suspense and romcom films. This epic war film is very well made. It's like Crouching Tiger and the Hidden Dragon meets RAN. If you saw those films, you know what I mean. It is really that good. First half its kinda over long in terms of story telling. It kinda reminds me sometimes of a good RPG game somehow. Thus, the second half really gets you in. I mean it will really eat your hearts out. I would not spoil anything but the story alone is tremendously well done. Revenge, hack and slash war film that really interacts the viewers interest not only the culture of each clans. But the humane side of the plot is pretty impressive. Another must watch seriously. Watch this one. 4.5 stars out of 5.

This "Robin Hood" and Spaghetti Western inspired period piece features martial arts talented bandits versus corrupt politicians and noblemen. The bandits are fed up with starvation and being slaves, they take back their land and rice in gloriously choreographed fight scenes. The movie is a bit overlong, but it manages to develop all of the characters in that running time. The set design, costumes, and cinematography are gorgeous, so that also helps the dark story that riffs on the 1% themes. Although not perfect, its a fiercely entertaining period piece with a lot of flair and style.

I have to admit that I am not well versed in Asian action films, nor Korean history but I love this film. YOON Jong-bin's "Kundo"is the story of a bandit clan that take on the tyranny inflicted on the peasant population during the Joseon Dynasty. The film is a Korean period piece, set in 1859, and brings together a modern vision to classic Asian action-fantasy with tradition dramatic passion.
