Brit, Candy, Cotty, and Faith have been best friends since grade school. They live together in a boring college dorm and are hungry for adventure. All they have to do is save enough money for spring break to get their shot at having some real fun. A serendipitous encounter with rapper "Alien" promises to provide the girls with all the thrill and excitement they could hope for. With the encouragement of their new friend, it soon becomes unclear how far the girls are willing to go to experience a spring break they will never forget.

I REMEMBER WANTING TO SEE THIS MOVIES LIKE YEARS AGO & o FINALLY WATCH IT.....& THIS MOVIE IS FUCKING HORRIBLE...like ALL YOU HAVE ARE THESE 4 LITTLE WHITE GIRLS OUT IN fl HAVING THE BEST TIME ON SPRING BREAKER & TRYING TO BE LIKE BAD BITCHES 7 they start hanging around this wanna wigger drug-dealer & I was no near happy or impress while watching this movie is was that bad & I am so happy they never made a sequel because that would have been some trash & they did do it, it might aswell bring it out on DVD

"Spring Breakers" tries to be more than the typical party movie, and that is admirable, even if it doesn't always work. The movie has a pretty strong social commentary and satirical vibe that is fascinating to watch. The characters are interesting enough and the standout performance in the movie is the one given by James Franco. I thought the movie starts off strong but really fizzles out at some point in the middle. The movie's structure also feels somewhat repetitive at times and I was exhausted by certain parts of it. Some scenes like they're a bit too over the top but I think it just comes back to the tone the movie is going for. It's a movie made with a lot of energy and is unlike anything else this genre has seen before and for the most part its a good thing.

I thought the first 20 minutes were really good, almost a 5/5. The writing was a bit ham-fisted, but I thought the ham-fistedness perfectly captured the sense of desperation and urgency that the girls were feeling to escape their directionless, and lives where they see no meaning. Then after the 20 minutes, I realized the ham-fistedness wasn't an artistic choice, but just bad writing. This line is delivered when one of the girls starts seeing that their spring break is taking a turn for the worse. "I don't like it here. It's too weird. This isn't what we came here for. We came here to have fun, we came here to like, party and smoke weed. This is not what it was supposed to be". All delivered in monotone. There's just no subtlety or any depth to this movie.
